I can’t tell how many emails, facebook inboxes and business cards or should I say ministry cards that I recieve from ministers both music and drama requesting to be invited to Citizens of Light Church to minister or that I should help them organise a special worship meeting or programme in our church with them as the special or guest artist.
Honestly guys it can be tiring for me. Someone even when further to request for what he titled our MEGA PROGRAMMES….he said he will rather a Mega Programm. REALLY?
Truth is, i do not condemn you neither do I your actions. I just feel…you have been wrongly taught. Some go as far as travelling to ILORIN to meet me, telling me GOD told them to tell me this and that about a concept. COMMON GUYS?
I can truly understand the passion in your heart. The youthfulness and the restlessness that comes with it. You feel like time is rolling by…you still haven’t BLOWN like Nathaniel Bassey or someone else. I will share a few of my experiences with you to help you understand you don’t have to do some things.
Around 2002 thereabout, I was pastoring this small group of people and i had gone for a programme in Amphi Theater of OAU. The programme is called “AWESOME” organised by Sister JUMOKE ADENOWO. I sat very far away because I came in late and then God spoke to my heart. You will be speaking in this programme soon. Of course it did not make sense. I was young in the things of the spirit…and most importantly i was not looking for it. It wasn’t a desire really. Without knowing the organisers…sometimes in 2007 or 2008 thereabout I was invited without knowing anyone and introducing myself to them or sending an email. God bless the late CHAZ B, who had a show on inspiration FM then, never met him, never even heard of him. Did not know anyone in inspiration of FM. I never would have lobbied for that really. They heard about me from a total stranger in Palms Lekki. I was in Ife. And then the producer introduced herself to me requesting if I could come on CHAZ B show. I remember turning down the date they first gave me. I walked into Inspiration FM and then we aired the life show. It was God who felt he wanted me to speak there. That is not success in ministry really. Saying I was in that church and that church and that Programm is not the focus of ministry. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR LANE AND FOCUS SIR AND MA…DONT BECOME A BEGGAR.
In 2012, a door of ministry opened to me in United States of America. The Pastor of this US based church and I had never met. He just follows my Posts on Facebook…he then sent me a message that he was considering 2 of us from Nigeria to minister in their church. He mentioned the name of the second Pastor he was considering and he happened to be my friend. He said, for logistic reasons…we can’t host you both at the same time. Who should come first? I told him he should actually consider this friend of mine first. I wasn’t trying to be humble. The brother is more charismatic…more eloquent…can cram plenty scriptures and he was even finer than me sef…Ha, he should go first o.(just kidding)
But I really spoke highly of this other Pastor. I told him how If they listen to him, their lives will never remain the same. He took my advise. Truth is I never got that invitation again. Maybe some things came up in the church that they couldn’t follow up with my invite. I did not send a reminder email to them. The platform came to me and I deflected it to another brother. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR LANE AND FOCUS SIR AND MA
5 years ago, CLC had started then…we were just a few months old and i had gone to a place where there is a major preaching platform. I went there to do the work of a driver. To help carry people from that place to town. God told me, he had an assignment for me there and he was opening doors of that place to me. I did my drivers job and left. Never told a single soul about it. In fact I never returned to that location in 5 years. I was leaving church some weeks ago and one of my associate pastor brought a letter to me. He said it was from so and so…I said to him. “Oh finally the time is now” and i told him the story behind my utterance. PLEASE STAY IN YOUR LANE SIR AND MA.
I sincerely have more to tell you but time and space will not permit me. You are not in ministry to look for platform. You have a gift that you feel you can bless the body of Christ with…go and submit yourself under the ministry of the local church and leadership of your Pastor. Don’t say our church does not support my ministry. Serve in whatever capacity in that local church and spend time preparing. PLATFORMS IN MINISTRY ARE MORE SPIRITUAL THAN YOU IMAGINE. THEY CAN’T BE LOBBIED FOR EXCEPT YOU ARE DEALING WITH ANOTHER CARNAL PERSON LIKE YOURSELF. Listen, it doesn’t matter what someone says about that form of ministry. Oh there are only 5 fold ministry e.t.c Don’t worry, if it’s God…you can’t be stopped but never jump. You see Sinach and Nathaniel Bassey and you don’t know how long they have been committed to the same local assembly.
This one you are jumping from church to church, looking for a big stage…STOP IT PLEASE…packaging yourself and reading all manner of funny how to succeed in your craft…1) barb mohawk 2) buy 3 piece suit 3) buy good perfume 4) twists your tongue when you say JESUS…make it sound like JEWZUS 5) order for your complimentary card from China not Shomolu. 6) SINCE grace is reigning now…sing about grace and sing about Christ 7) your shoes must be ITALIAN pointees and well polished. I am not despising looking good. It’s not just the anointing really. Shoes don’t change lives…the anointing does.
Let me show you how Paul got MOST OF HIS OPEN DOORS IN MINISTRY
Colossians 4:2-4
Devote yourselves to prayer, being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, THAT GOD MAY OPEN A DOOR FOR OUR MESSAGE, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.
HE SAID PRAYER BE MADE. NOT SUITS BE BOUGHT. HE SAID SPIRITUAL ENERGY BE RELEASED NOT GQ MAGAZINE. Look at hillsong Choir…what do they wear really. There is nothing they wear you can’t find in MAX…just kidding. We don’t focus on that. What does Daddy Adeboye wear…what does Nathaniel Bassey wear. If you personally like to dress well…IT IS GOOD BUT DONT START SAYING IT IS WHAT OPENS DOORS FOR YOU IN MINISTRY…IT MAY OPEN DOORS OF CARNAL MINISTRIES BUT NOTHING SOLID. Spiritual people have learnt to look beyond all that. Dress well because you are a human being not because you are trying to get platforms as a minister.
Stop sending emails and advertising your ministry. It not proper.

Now when I went to Troas to preach the gospel of Christ and found that the LORD HAD OPENED A DOOR FOR ME, I still had no peace of mind, because I did not find my brother Titus there. So I said goodbye to them and went on to Macedonia.

For I do not want to see you now and make only a passing visit; I hope to spend some time with you, if the Lord permits. But I will stay on at Ephesus until Pentecost, because a great door for effective work has opened to me, and there are many who oppose me.
These doors are opened by God not by suit and Italian shoes neither by emails and Facebook inboxes. Focus on preparing yourself. STUDY the word…rehearse your songs…perfect your skills…..AND SPEND TIME PRAYING AND SERVING. when the time is ripe according to God the caller…he will show you forth. When he feels you are properly lit…he will put you on a candle stand for all to see.
Matthew 5:14-15
“You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden. Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to everyone in the house.
