I really want to share this with another pioneer like me. People carrying visions in their heart yet feel handicapped. When God told me to start the Church in Ilorin, I really didn’t have any money on me, whether for venue, accommodation, or microphones, not evens a cable. I had to live with a family for months who believed in the call of God on my life. May God bless them and their seeds forever. Unfortunately for me, I had heard a man of God say that the era of starting ministry without a fully kitted Church was over. This was the first mindset I battled. There was no money for jack and I had made up my mind never to call anyone for any financial support. I had said to myself, no man owes me anything. Dear “starter”, this mindset will set you free from offence. So I said to myself, I will rather be without drum set, guitars, keyboard etc. than inconvenience the folks in Church. They didn’t call me, God did and He will build His Church. We started the Church with just my bible and the vision. I did everything in service. I sang, preached, and took offering and the announcement. I often left service really tired. All these for just 2 or 3 people, but to the glory of God, without drums neither guitars nor keyboard for over a year we kept increasing. People kept coming. There is no family nor person that has come to Citizens of Light Church that has left for the want of musical instrument or otherwise except for those who relocated. We moved from 2 people to 3 to 5 to 7, 9, 12, 14, 17, 25, 30, 40, 50 to where we are now. One of my associates was telling me after a particular Sunday service that we needed a bigger venue and we had changed venue once already. We had been speaking to over 1 million people through our radio broadcast before we thought of buying our first drum set and guitar. Yes, now we have a TAMA drum set, keyboard and guitar AND I HAVE LEARNT THAT A VISION DOES NOT PROSPER BECAUSE OF WHAT YOU HAVE BUT RATHER BECAUSE OF WHO YOU HAVE. A Church still grows without drums, get up and do what is in your heart to do. Don’t wait till you have it all. Everything will come as you take the first step of obedience.
